Speeches

In the last couple of weeks our school has been preparing and writing a  speech to present to our class. My speech was about Gymnastics. I was really nervous to present my speech. The two best from each class then went into the Learning Center Speech final. In the Learning center competition there were Hayden,m Sarah and Maria from P1. From P4 there were Finn and Anais. They were the Year 8 speech finals for there class and the year 7 were Rayan, Eden, Cassidy , Amber. The Speech finalist for the school are Anis and Finn for the year 8's and Amber and Rayan for the year 7's. 

Devon Intermediate Sports Exchange

On Monday 2nd September, Devon Intermediate School from New Plymouth, Taranaki came to Mokoia for a school sports exchange. Mokoia had to defend a trophy called the 'Richard Thomson Cup'. The first session on sports were Girls Football, Year 8 B netball and Mixed basketball. I was helping Amy with the photos of all the sports. It was fun. Mokoia won all there games apart from Rugby. The year 8 B netball team won with a score of 28/12 to Mokoia and the Girls soccer won with 1/0. Also Mixed Basketball won with a score of 68/26. Later on there were other sports played they were Boys soccer, Year 8 A netball, Year 7 A netball and rugby. Year 8  A Netball won there game with 39/8, Boys Soccer won with a score of 2/1.  Year 7 A netball won 28/5 and Rugby lost with a total score of 68/23. Overall the Devon exchange was really cool and I'm so happy that we won the trophy and the girls soccer won there game for the 8th year in a row. I had a billet it was really fun and cool. My billets name was Tayla the same as mine. I think that Devon was really cool and the disco last night was awesome as well. So overall a really cool experince for me. :)

Stormbreaker Movie vs. Book

Exhilarating, exciting, thrilling are all words that describe the movie and book ‘Stormbreaker’ written by Anthony Horowitz. This book is a very hooking, exciting and interesting book that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Alex Rider is a 14 year old boy whose uncle Ian suspicious dies.  

Characters

The main characters of Stormbreaker were Alex Rider, Herod Sayle, Nadia Vole, and Yassen Gregorovich. Sub main characters were Mr Grin, Jack (Alex Riders babysitter), Sabrina, and Mrs Jones, and many others.

Plots

The plot of the story and the book is Were Ian Rider is coming home from his last mission and turns his music up really loud. A helicopter was waiting just around the corner but since his music was up to loud his couldn’t hear it.  Yassen comes out of the helicopter upside down with two guns and shots Ian Rider. After Alex and Jack find out Alex the 14 year old boy trains and becomes a spy within 11 days. His goal is to stop Herod Sayle from killing millions of kids and people.

Weapons

Lots had lots of special tools and weapons one of them were his zit cream. His zit cream is he adds it to a maximum of 6 inches of metal and it can burn though it easy. The Yoyo can catch on to something a he can swing and it will hold it. Alex also has a Gameboy (Nintendo) which has other games that have different meanings one of them is called bomber boy. You leave it on the ground and press a button it will go off and explodes and another one of them is where he can listen to other people’s conversation through 

walls.

Highlights

My highlights of the movie were when Jack and Nadia Vole had a fight in Alex’s house while she was painting a puffer fish and when Jack got the black flamingo and they were having a fight and the flamingo’s head fell off and Nadia Vole got the puffer fish stuck in her hand. Alex Rider was in the jellyfish tank and he had to use his zit cream to get out of it he swam down to the bottom in the corner and poured out some zit cream and it melted the metal and the glass came lose and the water and jellyfish poured in to Nadia Vole. Another highlights is where it is really tense and he is about to fall off the top of a really tall building and he is about to get shot and then out of nowhere a helicopter the same on who shot his uncle came and saved him…

In conclusion I think that Stormbreaker (the book and the movie) is a really interesting and exciting movie that you should watch. I would defiantly watch and read the book again.
